I’m back in my hometown for the Lunar New Year. This is the one festival that everybody in Vietnam is always so thrilled about. They love this holidays. (Well, mainly us kids because we get lucky money which results to lots of money
)
Back at the town (Danang it is), nothing much changed except fromt the pub (not really, they serve coke there) that I use to come to. Also, the Lunar New Year is our biggest festive here. What is your country’s biggest festival?
Other than that, what’s your country’s new year tradition? (Like us, we eat jam and get lucky money) ![]()

New Years traditions in the US… making resolutions, kissing someone at midnight, I think there’s something you’re supposed to eat for luck but I’m not sure what it is.

Who doesn’t love a holiday that involves receiving money?
I think the biggest thing Canadians celebrate is Christmas or New Year’s. For New Years, there are fireworks!!

Oh don’t worry about it, are you going to publish it or are you going to email me it? Either way is fine I guess.

Well, we have Diwali in India. That is the New Years Festival for hindu’s, jains, and a few other religions. Not muslims, christians, and a few other minorities tho. So it isn’t an official new year thing there. But its fun. We don’t get any money
The biggest thing we celebrate would probably be….hmm, i have no idea on that one since I’m only there during summers. I would say that if it isn’t a religious holiday, then it would be Jan26th (Republic day) or Aug15th(Independence Day)…or maybe new years..don’t know.
Diwali has a shitload of traditions. like for 20 days leading up to it or something everyday you’re supposed to do something. like on this day called dhanderas, you should go out and buy jewlery (not the fake type, but good gold one). oh, and on diwali we light deepaks, or oil lamps, all around the house (at least one per room, bathrooms included, and a lot at the entrances to the house), also lots of firecrackers, sweets, and family+friends…
